orchid vandas

May 31, 2012

Vanda is one of many general in the orchid family Orchidaceae. The name Vanda is derived from the classical Indian language Sanskrit. Wild vandal orchids grow in northern Australia and Eastern Asia, including India, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea, southern China and the Himalaya region. The show from one Vanda spike can sometimes last up to eight weeks or more, and this is naturally a highly desirable treat in the floral industry. If you a Vanda plant with ideal Vanda orchid care, it can bloom more than once a year.

Vanda, abbreviated as V in horticultural trade, is a genus in the orchid family (Orchidaceae) which, although not large (about fifty species), is one of the most important florally.

These mostly epiphytic, but sometimes lithophytic or terrestrial orchids are distributed in India, Himalaya, SE Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea, southern China and northern Australia.

The genus has a monopodial growth habit with leaves that are highly variable according to habitat. Some have flat, typically broad, ovoid leaves (strap-leaves), while others have cylindrical (terete), fleshy leaves and are adapted to dry periods. The stems of these orchids vary considerably in size; there are miniature plants and plants with a length of several meters.

This genus is one of the five most horticulturally important orchid genera, because it has some of the most magnificent flowers to be found in the entire orchid family. This has contributed much to the work of hybridists producing flowers for the cut flower market. Vanda coerulea is one of the few botanical orchids with blue flowers (actually a very bluish purple), a property much appreciated for producing interspecific and intergeneric hybrids. Vanda dearei is one of the chief sources of yellow color in Vanda hybrids.

Many Vanda orchids (especially Vanda coerulea) are endangered, because of habitat destruction. The export of wild-collected specimens of the Blue Orchid (Vanda coerulea) is under CITIES Appendix I and other wild Vandas is prohibited worldwide, as all orchids are listed on Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

Education is the key to success

May 2, 2012

Education in its broadest, general sense is the means through which the aims and habits of a group of people lives on from one generation to the next.[1] Generally, it occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts. In its narrow, technical sense, education is the formal process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, customs and values from one generation to another, e.g., instruction in schools.

                                  Why is Education Important?
The first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education gives us knowledge of the world around us. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say, education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. They are right. But then, information cannot be converted into knowledge without the catalyst called education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things rightly. Education is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life.

The words ‘cultivate’ and ‘civilize’ are synonymous with ‘educate.

Education is important because it equips us with all that is needed to make our dreams come true. Education opens doors to brilliant career opportunities.

Education is essential as it paves the path leading to disillusionment. The motive behind this is fostering education in society.

An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don’t.

Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.

Question: Why Is Education So Important for Success?

Is education important to a successful career in the healthcare industry? And if so, how important is it, and why is education so important? Many readers and job seekers often ask why education is important with respect to one’s career, particularly in the healthcare industry. Some people also want to know how education can impact overall quality of life, in addition to the impact education has on one’s career.

Being responsible

May 2, 2012

e requisites for any person who wants to survive independently in this world. As a child grows, he/she learns to become more responsible for the things around him/her. However, the sense of responsibility comes at different times for different people. Some mature early and shoulder responsibilities at a very young age; while others do not realize it till the time they are forced into such a situation. Being responsible for one’s deed is essential to prove one’s worth in the today’s world of cut-throat competition. It is necessary for an individual to stand up to his commitments. This helps in creating trust and respect for him, from the people surrounding him. We bring you some helpful tips in the lines below that will help you be more responsible in your life. These tips will definitely inspire you to work in a better and a more committed manner.

                            Tips For Becoming More Responsible

One of the first steps towards being responsible is practicing discipline. Do not overindulge in luxuries and pleasures. Remember that “time and tide waits for none”. So, start being responsible from this moment and begin to work to the best of your abilities.

Understand the fact that responsibility has to be earned; it is not something that you are entitled to. The most probable reason that you are not given some new and challenging responsibilities may be because you do not prove yourself worth in the present ones.

Learn to cope up with problems. When something bad happens, allow it to add meaning to your life. Rather than being frustrated and disappointed, be more empowered and motivated to achieve your goals.

Learn to be answerable for your deeds. In case, you are unable to complete your task, accept your lagging and try consistently to overcome it. Framing vague excuses will only make you appear irresponsible and hamper your future growth.

Always have an optimistic approach to life.

Making choices or taking decisions and living with them, is termed as taking responsibility of your own actions.

Value your words and yourself. If you commit something to someone, just do the work and do not let the other person down.

Never be afraid of making  mistakes.

Learn to acknowledge your mistakes, rather than justifying yourself in every situation. This will not only make you appear more responsible, but will also gain you respect from others.

The definition of marriage varies according to different cultures, but is usually an institution in which interpersonal relationships, usually intimate and sexual, are acknowledged. Such a union is often formalized via a wedding ceremony. In some conservative cultures, marriage is recommended.

Building

May 1, 2012

Buildings come in a wide amount of shapes and functions, and have been adapted throughout history for a wide number of factors, from building materials available, to weather conditions, to land prices, ground conditions, specific uses and aesthetic reasons.

Buildings serve several needs of society – primarily as shelter from weather and as general living space, to provide privacy, to store belongings and to comfortably live and work. A building as a shelter represents a physical division of the human habitat (a place of comfort and safety) and the outside (a place that at times may be harsh and harmful).

Ever since the first cave paintings, buildings have also become objects or canvasess of artistic expression. In recent years, interest in sustainable planning and building practices has also become part of the design process of many new buildings.

Building is defined in many aspects as:
.As a Civil Engineering structures such as a house, worship centre,Factories etc. that has a foundation, wall, roof etc. that protect human being and their properties from direct harsh effect of weather like rain, wind, sun etc.
.The act of constructing, erecting, or establishing.
.The art of constructing edifices, or the practice of civil architecture.
.That which is built; a fabric or edifice constructed, as a house, a church, castle, arena/ stadium, etc.
.The act of constructing or building something; “during the construction we had to take a detour”; “his hobby was thebuilding of boats”
.The commercial activity involved in constructing buildings; “their main business is home construction”; “workers in the building trades”
.A structure that has a roof and walls and stands more or less permanently in one place;[1] “there was a three-storey building on the corner”; “it was an imposing edifice”
.The occupants of a building; “the entire building complained about the noise”
.To differentiate buildings in the usage of this article from other buildings and other structures that are not intended for continuous human occupancy, the latter are called non-building structures or simply structures.
.Structural height in technical usage is the height to the highest architectural detail on building from street-level. .Depending on how they are classified, spires and masts may or may not be included in this height. Spires and masts used as antennas are not generally included.
.The definition of a low-rise vs. a high-rise building is a matter of debate, but generally three storeys or less is considered low-rise.[2]

Residential
Residential buildings are called houses/homes, though buildings containing large numbers of separate dwelling units are often called apartment buildings or apartment blocks to differentiate them from the more ‘individual’ house.

Multi-storey

A multi-storey building is a building that has multiple floors above ground in the building.
Multi-storey buildings aim to increase the area of the building without increasing the area of the land the building is built on, hence saving land and, in most cases, money (depending on material used and land prices in the area). The building with the most stories is the Burj Khalifa, with 162.

If you are looking for a fantastic team building idea or a secret to conducting a great team building event, the best piece of wisdom I have ever come across is the importance of creating and maintaining energy and enthusiasm during the team building activity. Often times, event planners or people who are organizing a convention or annual event will hire a professional team building expert to facilitate some type of team building activity, but if you have a smaller group of people, how can you get the same type of results without breaking your budget? The key is to create a team building activity that does three things. First, the activity has to insert energy into your meeting. Second, you have to facilitate in a way that everyone stays active and involved the entire time. And finally, the activity or event must create some type of emotional response from the participants.

Dream house

May 1, 2012

In a house with rooms and doors : In a house with rooms and doors. rooms represent different aspects of the dreamer doors represent

Now is the time to find Your Dream House

As you know, fall is just around the corner. The days are now getting shorter, the weather is getting cooler, and leaves are starting to change colors. With all this change in the air, I have to ask — can you think of a better time to start looking for your dream home? Now is the perfect time to start looking through house plans for at least two reasons.  That information may sound quite dismal, but there are some benefits that many people fail to realize. For years, material suppliers have catered their business to production.

As a house design professional and dad, driving in traffic seems to have gotten worse, but the term traffic has taken on another meaning too. I have seen countless house designs and built several homes and a homes traffic pattern is a big part of the design process. One of the most important aspects when building your home is making an efficient home traffic pattern. This is simply the way you travel from one room to another inside your home.

This particular set of house plans doesn’t quite fit. Have you ever considered hiring a draftsman to modify a set of house plans? For most people, hiring someone to make changes to house.

Today, we take a look at one of our best selling house plans. Not only is it one of the best selling home designs on our website, it is also our top passive solar design. The exterior of the this homeplan is as traditional as anyone could want, but one thing you don’t notice is the passive solar construction that allows you to save on heating bills. You receive the benefits of solar power and don’t look like you’re living in a space ship. Other features include a large terrace out back for family.

Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born.

Having a dream home is a dream for every bodies, this desire is generally owned by people who have a family. As for those who are still a single, sometimes buying a home is used as one form of investment or a form of future planning. To have our dream home there are several ways that can be achieved. Buy or build your own house.

jessica sanchez pinoy american idol

May 1, 2012

MANILA, Philippines – You can take a breath now, Pinoy “American Idol” fans. Another gets eliminated on the show, but she’s not your bet.

Securing one of the highest numbers of votes, Jessica Sanchez made it to the Top 5 of Fox’s megahit singing competition on Thursday, April 27 (Friday in Manila).

American Idol got 58 million votes Wednesday night (Thursday in Manila), the highest tally so far this season.

New Jersey native Elise Testone, who was at the bottom of those votes, left the show.

On social networking sites, Filipino netizens expressed their support for Sanchez and congratulated her for surviving the latest elimination round. Some also gave her advice.

fan posted on Sanchez’s Facebook page, “CONGRATS, jessica! you are safe & included in Top 5.”

MANILA, Philippines [UPDATED] – Filipina-Mexican-American Jessica Sanchez received both average reviews and praises on “American Idol” on Wednesday, April 25 (Thursday, April 26 in Manila), after the young singer performed the classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the ballad “Dance With My Father.

For her second song, Sanchez chose Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father,” earning her better reactions from the 3 judges this time.

Lopez praised her rendition of the ballad, while Jackson said she is “truly amazing.”

“That may have been the best I’ve heard that song sang,” Lopez said.

Tyler, on the other hand, said he is ‘honored’ to watch the Filipino-Mexican-American “evolve” as a singer on the show.

“Your vocet’s worth noting that out of the 10 previous American Idol winners, 7 of them won with a clean, bottom-3-free record. Three of them experienced the elimination scare, with Season 3’s Fantasia Barrino even landing the bottom 3 spot, twice. is so different than anybody else’s,” Tyler added.

essica’s ultimate Idol victory is not a guarantee as of now no matter how the judges and producer Jimmy Iovine root for her. It all depends on how she steps up her game in the weeks to come.

She must work harder in picking the right songs, upping her game (to avoid the impression that she peaked early) and, most importantly, connecting with the voters.

Whether she regains her frontrunner status is still a question, but what’s certain is that her shock elimination rattled her fans (and the Pinoy community in the USA) — which will make them vote harder, allowing Jessica to sail through safely in a few more weeks.

And certainly, it should be a warning for Jessica as well to always be better than her best.

butterfly

May 1, 2012

A butterfly is a mainly day-flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, which includes the butterflies and moths. Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly’s life cycle consists of four parts: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. Butterflies comprise the true butterflies , the skippers (superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth-butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). All the many other families within the Lepidoptera are referred to as moths. The earliest known butterfly fossils date to the mid Eocene epoch, between 40–50 million years ago.

Butterflies exhibit polymorphism, mimicry and aposematism. Some, like the Monarch, will migrate over long distances. Some butterflies have evolved symbiotic and parasitic relationships with social insects such as ants. Some species are pests because in their larval stages they can damage domestic crops or trees; however, some species are agents of pollination of some plants, and caterpillars of a few butterflies.

It is a popular belief that butterflies have very short life spans.[by whom?] However, butterflies in their adult stage can live from a week to nearly a year depending on the species. Many species have long larval life stages while others can remain dormant in their pupal or egg stages and thereby survive winter.

Butterflies may have one or more broods per year.

Scales

Butterflies are characterized by their scale-covered wings. The coloration of butterfly wings is created by minute scales. These scales are pigmented with melanins that give them blacks and browns, but blues, greens, reds and iridescence are usually created not by pigments but the microstructure of the scales. This structural coloration is the result of coherent scattering of light by the photonic crystal nature of the scales. The scales cling somewhat loosely to the wing and come off easily without harming the butterfly.

Butterflies feed primarily on nectar from flowers. Some also derive nourishment from pollen,[21] tree sap, rotting fruit, dung, decaying flesh, and dissolved minerals in wet sand or dirt. Butterflies are important as pollinators for some species of plants although in general they do not carry as much pollen load as bees. They are however capable of moving pollen over greater distances. Flower constancy has been observed for at least one species of butterfly.

As adults, butterflies consume only liquids which are ingested by means of their proboscis. They sip water from damp patches for hydration and feed on nectar from flowers, from which they obtain sugars for energy as well as sodium and other minerals vital for reproduction. Several species of butterflies need more sodium than that provided by nectar and are attracted by sodium in salt; they sometimes land on people, attracted by the salt in human sweat. Some butterflies also visit dung, rotting fruit or carcasses to obtain minerals and nutrients. In many species, this mud-puddling behaviour is restricted to the males, and studies have suggested that the nutrients collected may be provided as a nuptial gift along with the spermatophore, during mating.

Butterflies use their antennae to sense the air for wind and scents. The antennae come in various shapes and colours; the hesperids have a pointed angle or hook to the antennae, while most other families show knobbed antennae. The antennae are richly covered with sensory organs known as sensillae. A butterfly’s sense of taste, 200 times stronger than humans, is coordinated by chemoreceptors on the tarsi, or feet, which work only on contact, and are used to determine whether an egg-laying insect’s offspring will be able to feed on a leaf before eggs are laid on it.]Many butterflies use chemical signals, pheromones, and specialized scent scales (androconia) and other structures (coremata or “hair pencils” in the Danaidae) are developed in some species.

Vision is well developed in butterflies and most species are sensitive to the ultraviolet spectrum. Many species show sexual dimorphism in the patterns of UV reflective patches. Color vision may be widespread but has been demonstrated in only a few species.

Some butterflies have organs of hearing and some species are also known to make stridulatory and clicking sounds.

A flower, sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants (plants of the division Magnoliophyta, also called angiosperms). The biological function of a flower is to effect reproduction, usually by providing a mechanism for the union of sperm with eggs. Flowers may facilitate outcrossing (fusion of sperm and eggs from different individuals in a population) or allow selfing (fusion of sperm and egg from the same flower). Some flowers produce diaspores without fertilization (parthenocarpy). Flowers contain sporangia and are the site where gametophytes develop. Flowers give rise to fruit and seeds. Many flowers have evolved to be attractive to animals, so as to cause them to be vectors for the transfer of pollen.
In addition to facilitating the reproduction of flowering plants, flowers have long been admired and used by humans to beautify their environment, but also as objects of romance, ritual, religion, medicine and as a source of food.
